The Pseudomonas sp. PA14H7 strain has previously shown interesting activity against the bacteria responsible for blackleg and soft rot in potatoes.

Further understanding of this strain is essential to optimise its use as a biocontrol agent.

Phylea project

Knowing the age of tubers

Against a backdrop of climate change and the withdrawal of synthetic sprout inhibitors, defining the physiological age of tubers is becoming essential for better management of decisions on planting, storage instructions, processing and marketing. The main aim of the Phylea project is to identify a rapid tool for predicting this physiological state.

Selecting and predicting resistance

Marker-assisted selection (MAS) and genomic selection (GS) are key assets in the creation of late blight-resistant varieties. If these advantages are to be maintained, it is essential that they are combined with the other tools available.

A late blight action plan

As part of the new Ecophyto 2030 strategy, the government has entrusted the industry, via PARSADA, with the task of identifying concrete cases of active ingredient withdrawals and establishing a ‘360° diagnosis’ of knowledge and alternative methods. In the potato sector, a late blight action plan will be drawn up.
